Reverse Proof Silver Eagle: Rare Mintage Makes This Coin A Hot Commodity

May 15th, 2011 No comments

Reverse Proof Silver Eagle was minted only in 2006 to celebrate the American Silver Eagle program's 20th anniversary year. This coin is a hot commodity among coin collectors and investors due to its uniqueness and super low mintage numbers.

The standard silver bullion eagle coin has a mirror-smooth field while the famous Walking Liberty design and other marks are frosted. The "reverse" is true with the Reverse Proof Silver Eagle: the devices are mirrored and the background field offers a frosted finish.

This bullion coin has realized excellent gains in market value in the relatively short time it has been bought and sold.

America the Beautiful 5 oz Silver Bullion Coins

January 14th, 2011 1 comment
These silver coins are certainly nothing but the ordinary. America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins are 5 ounces of .999 fine silver with special and challenging design elements.

U.S. Mint Director Ed Moy described earlier in the year, part of the delay has been in developing a process to inscribe the fineness and weight on the edge of each coin. The special design element is mandated by the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act.

Challenges of incusing the edges, which are particularly thin due to the required bullion coin diameter and weight specifications, have been overcome with the help of a newly purchased coin press that was designed to strike larger coins.
