2009 Platinum Eagle Coin – Sold Out at the Mint

The US Mint released 2009 American Eagle One Ounce Platinum Proof Coin in December and has sold out of the coins, as had been predicted by many numismatic resources. And it took about a week.

Platinum eagle coins were struck at the Mint’s facility at West Point and release was limited to a mintage of only 8,000. The obverse on this year’s Platinum features the first of six annual designs dedicated to the six principles of the Preamble of the United States Constitution.

Carson City, Nevada – a true Wild West town -- utilized the silver strike of 1859 to mint CC Morgan dollars. Like other Morgan dollars, the CC Morgans display the face of Liberty on the front and an eagle on its reverse side. Also on the reverse side is the double C (Carson City) mark which sets it apart from other Morgan dollars.
